Pre Trip Check List and Spares Kit (back)

Pre Trip Check List:

All electrical connections are clean and solid. Keep plug and socket clean with emery cloth and well coated with petroleum jelly or other moisture displacing product. Keep these products away from plastic components. Check for power to riggers before leaving the shore.

All fasteners and screw knobs are tight and secure.

Spares kit is complete and on board.

Stopper beads are installed and in the right place.

Cable is free of corrosion, kinks, frays or tangles. Replace cable if needed. See replacing cable section.

Spares Kit

Some items to consider for a spares kit are:

Fuses for electric downrigger.

Terminal kits (including crimps, snaps and bumpers) and crimping tool.

Stopper beads.

Release clips.

Cannonballs.

Drive belt.

Emergency crank handle.
